ABOUT
SO. After doing the Captain Kirk FST I was darn well in the mood to do a Spock one as well, but after my friend and I scavenged YouTube and our ginormous music folders and came up with absolutely nothing in terms of vocal songs (he's really hard to pick for you know), we simply decided to give up and put an instrumental CD together instead. Following the theme of the oriental erhu music that comes up every time Spock or Sarek are on the screen ('That New Cat Smell' in the Star Trek OST), we threw together a mix of things to depict Spock's childhood, Starfleet years, Vulcan, his mother's passing, the Enterprise and his relationship with Kirk. Surprisingly, though he's known for showing no emotion towards any of his fellow peers, Spock remains one of the most emotional characters in the series, as even the sligthest twitch of an eyebrow speaks volumes about his mental state, which I find incredibly fascinating (oh I'm so clever).
--------------

01 - Descent Within [Broken Iris]
Calm, exotic Vulcan, and the influences surrounding young Spock. His mother's strange, loving affections.

02 - Reflexio [Michael Cusson's Cavalia]
Reflexio meaning 'Reflection', or to peer into oneself in abstract terms. Spock questioning his identity as a half Human and half Vulcan, the two parts of himself. Ponderings and meditation.

03 - The Prophet [X-Ray Dog]
A matured, adult Spock. Asking for his mother's opinion of the Kolinahr. Life through the academy, a stranger in a new land.

04 - Singapore [Hans Zimmer's Pirates Of The Caribbean]
This song is more complex; a transition from Spock's insight at the Kobayashi Maru hearing, to the flight of the Enterprise, to Jim's unexpected reappearance. Sort of an 'all-in-one'.

05 - Sky Ferry [Alexandre Desplat's Golden Compass]
Obviously, Sky Ferry = Enterprise. Spock's job in the set up and take off of Starfleet's newest flagship.

06 - Inevitability [Basstronix]
Learning of Vulcan's fate and saving the high council, followed by the death of his mother.

07 - Trinity Definitely [Don Davis]
The aftermath of Amanda Grayson's death, and the destruction of Vulcan in the end. The crushing loss he is overwhelmed by.

08 - Where Do I Go From Here? [Adam Fielding]
Exactly as the title entails. After losing captaincy, Spock's whirl of uncontrollable fear, grief , confusion and anger.

09 - Ancient China [Randy Edelman's The Mummy]
Sarek's wisdom to his son about his mother. Once again a very Vulcan song, if not for the wonderful erhu.

10 - Xenosphere [Oceanfire]
Another gentle piece befitting of his sadness, yet also of his strong resolve.

11 - Idyll's End [Hollywood Studio Symphony's The Last Samurai]
A soft, yet powerful ending to Nero's final moments.

12 - QLSO Test [Alchemystic]
The most lighthearted song in the entire FST, because really, with all the angst hopping around there should be something to lift the mood. I like to call this the Kirk and Spock song, how Spock is constantly baffled by the man's illogical, rash and downright crazy behaviour. My friend would call it 'The Epic Chess Match'. ...I totally agree. 8Db

Dragon and Jazzy helped me put together and supply the music~ I <3 them. :,D

Hope you enjoy it all! Comments and crit are wonderfully appreciated~ ♥

(Truthfully icon is truth. HAIL THE MIGHTY SLASH DRAGON.)

I love Merlin. :D It's so...ajdfaskjdksjd. It's actually really GOOD, but I personally can't stop thinking about the Poisoned Chalice episode.

...Arthur...! Arthur! ...Faster!

Yes I have, I went through all the episodes in like three days (and even if I hadn't already been convinced that there was Something Going On, that episode would have converted me. Plus that bit in "Lancelot:" "You know Arthur?!" "Oh, yes." I about fainted.)

Oh jesus, that Lancelot episode. And yes, the moment he said that I practically fell off my chair.

WHOEVER WRITES THE SCRIPT, I DON'T WANT THEM TO CHAAAANGE. since the second season will be by an american company

Hopefully the gay will stay and the graphics will go up in quality. XD

An American company? I didn't know that, and given how repressed most American shows are (especially compared to British ones) I hope so too.

Snagged the zipped file. This is the first fanmix I've ever downloaded and what a start! The tracks really remind me of the Vulcan theme in the film and in parts also of Spock's bass theme in TOS. Very, very fitting and I love that it's instrumental because that makes for good background music. Thanks so much for sharing this! :D

Oh, thank you so much! <3 I'm glad to know I got them right! Finding erhu music or oriental of some kind was really hard to do. >_> I appreciate it! ♥

Breathtaking. I love that it was all instrumentals. The idea fits Spock so well. It is very rare that I end up like every song on a fanmix, but this one was just wow. Fantastic work!

Wow, I am so relieved to know you like them all. FOr ordinary lyric FSTs you choose by, well, the lyrics, but for instrumentals you really, really have to actually listen for what fits and what doesn't, based on the mood and theme. So I went for my absolute favourites in putting them in. <3 And I am really, really happy you picked up on its collectiveness and enjoyed it that much!

Thank yooou~! ♥

This is a lovely fanmix. I'm normally really big on lyrics (esp, on fst), but Spock isn't much of a lyrics guy, is he? Making it all instrumental is much more fitting of his character. And you did a really great job with picking music that is very evocative of Spock and similar in style to 'That New Cat Smell' on the OST. Beautiful. Great work.

Oh my God, I love you so much for doing an instrumental mix. As someone who adores soundtracks and instrumentals in general, this is probably one of my favorite mixes ever. And it works SO WELL for Spock, too. The Golden Compass surprised me with how fitting it was for ST, and Fielding's piece is gorgeous. Also, the last one is so cute for the epic chess match. :)

Thanks so much for sharing!
