ABOUT
SO. After doing the Captain Kirk FST I was darn well in the mood to do a Spock one as well, but after my friend and I scavenged YouTube and our ginormous music folders and came up with absolutely nothing in terms of vocal songs (he's really hard to pick for you know), we simply decided to give up and put an instrumental CD together instead. Following the theme of the oriental erhu music that comes up every time Spock or Sarek are on the screen ('That New Cat Smell' in the Star Trek OST), we threw together a mix of things to depict Spock's childhood, Starfleet years, Vulcan, his mother's passing, the Enterprise and his relationship with Kirk. Surprisingly, though he's known for showing no emotion towards any of his fellow peers, Spock remains one of the most emotional characters in the series, as even the sligthest twitch of an eyebrow speaks volumes about his mental state, which I find incredibly fascinating (oh I'm so clever).
--------------
01 - Descent Within [Broken Iris]
Calm, exotic Vulcan, and the influences surrounding young Spock. His mother's strange, loving affections.
02 - Reflexio [Michael Cusson's Cavalia]
Reflexio meaning 'Reflection', or to peer into oneself in abstract terms. Spock questioning his identity as a half Human and half Vulcan, the two parts of himself. Ponderings and meditation.
03 - The Prophet [X-Ray Dog]
A matured, adult Spock. Asking for his mother's opinion of the Kolinahr. Life through the academy, a stranger in a new land.
04 - Singapore [Hans Zimmer's Pirates Of The Caribbean]
This song is more complex; a transition from Spock's insight at the Kobayashi Maru hearing, to the flight of the Enterprise, to Jim's unexpected reappearance. Sort of an 'all-in-one'.
05 - Sky Ferry [Alexandre Desplat's Golden Compass]
Obviously, Sky Ferry = Enterprise. Spock's job in the set up and take off of Starfleet's newest flagship.
06 - Inevitability [Basstronix]
Learning of Vulcan's fate and saving the high council, followed by the death of his mother.
07 - Trinity Definitely [Don Davis]
The aftermath of Amanda Grayson's death, and the destruction of Vulcan in the end. The crushing loss he is overwhelmed by.
08 - Where Do I Go From Here? [Adam Fielding]
Exactly as the title entails. After losing captaincy, Spock's whirl of uncontrollable fear, grief , confusion and anger.
09 - Ancient China [Randy Edelman's The Mummy]
Sarek's wisdom to his son about his mother. Once again a very Vulcan song, if not for the wonderful erhu.
10 - Xenosphere [Oceanfire]
Another gentle piece befitting of his sadness, yet also of his strong resolve.
11 - Idyll's End [Hollywood Studio Symphony's The Last Samurai]
A soft, yet powerful ending to Nero's final moments.
12 - QLSO Test [Alchemystic]
The most lighthearted song in the entire FST, because really, with all the angst hopping around there should be something to lift the mood. I like to call this the Kirk and Spock song, how Spock is constantly baffled by the man's illogical, rash and downright crazy behaviour. My friend would call it 'The Epic Chess Match'. ...I totally agree. 8Db
Dragon and Jazzy helped me put together and supply the music~ I <3 them. :,D
Hope you enjoy it all! Comments and crit are wonderfully appreciated~ ♥
